| Getting
a better print. |
| |
For
several years now I have been designing cover art for CD-ROMs.
What started out as a one here and one there has turned out
to be over 250 published covers. One of the biggest
problems I faced when designing covers was poor or adequate
art work to start with. In many cases the art I was
given was nothing more than DOS based screen captures or low
to medium res photos.
Through trial and error I found out that by fooling my printer
I could get more clarity in my prints. In this tutorial
I'll discuss the methods I have used in the past to take an
image 179K in size, jpg stored at 72dpi and create and
image that is printable full page 8.5"x11"
The tutorial is shown using several different programs so
that you get an idea that this process can be used over a
variety of software titles.
The image I am using was download from a newsgroup and has
been one of my favorite images for printing on Canvas, Silk
and several other fabrics for use as samples at the computer
shows we do.
