ROTATING YOUR CARTRIDGES
HPs built-in reset.
According to Hewlett Packard documentation the printers
using the #56, #57 & #58 only retain the information of the last two
cartridges that were in the printer.By having additional ink cartridges on hand you can reset the cartridge ID without the use of the manual method of resetting (using tape)
RESETTING BY ROTATING
Resetting in this manner requires three cartridge.
Label the top of each cartrige with a lettr. As an example A B C.
1. "A" is in the printer (printer knows "A")
2. "A" is removed and replaced with "B" (printer knows "A" & "B")
3. "B" is removed and replaced with "C" (printer knows "B" & "C" & "A" is dropped from the list)
At this point though "A" has been in the printer, the print no longer remembers it or retains the information that it was there.
etc.
Even if you have cartridges that were repeatedly refilled and the print heads no longer work, they should be usable for resetting purposes. This does though require that you take cartridge of these cartridges so as not to damage the contact points.
If it seems a bit costly to you then consider what the cost of the cartridges would be WITHOUT refilling!
